Hi, I’m kissairis.
Thanks for visiting my spot on the internet. I’m a content + communications junkie who’s been living in Melbourne, Australia, since December 2015. I was born and raised in New York City, but came to the other side of the world on a working holiday visa and haven’t looked back since.
I’ve worked in all aspects of writing and comms, including content creation, strategy, branding, and digital marketing, at a variety of organisations.
After graduating with a degree in Magazine Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University (go Orange!), I focused on the U.S. not-for-profit sector. In Australia, I’ve spent most of my working hours at large, multinational tech companies. What gets me really excited these days is great content intersecting with smart, human-centred design to create a seamless user experience. #jackpot
Outside the 9-5 grind, I love travelling! I spent four years after uni living in Washington, D.C., a year teaching English in South Korea, and 11 months backpacking/writing remotely through Central and South America before arriving in Melbourne. I’ve run 12 marathons around the world, and it’s become one of my favourite ways to explore new destinations. I’m not too shabby in the kitchen, either. Last year, I had fun with Lasagnapalooza, a cooking challenge where I made and rated a different type of lasagna each month. If you’re nice, I might even share my winning recipe.
I believe that dogs make life better, accessible healthcare is a human right, ranch dressing pairs well with everything, and a little kindness goes a long way.
